Dwelling in the past

Entering a New Year always brings a great hope mixed with many anxious thoughts. The immediate thought would be what would happen to my career, education, finance, family's future and health? Very often we also carry with us the scars and burdens of the previous year. How to face the New Year? Yes, we could make bold new resolutions which all of us may follow for few weeks or months. Some may be successful in following the new plans. But for the vast majority of us it is difficult.

Isaiah 43:18-19 says “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. It is a great promise for us to face this New Year 2016. Philippians 3:13 says, Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead...If we dwell in the past we will be disappointed and this can lead to many consequences including inability to live up to our full potential. However difficult our path may be God promises us to make a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. Let us cling to the above promises and enter this year 2016. Have a blessed year!
